Welcome, Students & Educators

Wat Thai of Los Angeles welcomes students of all ages who are working on school projects, research papers, or cultural studies related to Thai Buddhism, Thai culture, and temple life. We are happy to share our traditions and help you learn about Theravada Buddhism in an authentic setting.

Available Hours

Temple visits and interviews for school projects are available daily from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During these hours, monks and temple staff are available to answer questions and guide you through the temple grounds.

How to Schedule a Visit

To schedule a visit or interview, please contact Tan Dusit in advance by calling (818) 287-1086. We ask that you call at least one week before your intended visit to ensure a monk or knowledgeable staff member is available to assist you. When calling, please provide:

  • Your name and school
  • The nature of your project or assignment
  • The number of people in your group
  • Your preferred date and time

Guidelines for Visitors

To ensure a respectful and meaningful visit, please observe the following guidelines:

  1. Dress modestly: Please wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Avoid shorts, tank tops, and revealing attire. This is a place of worship and modest dress shows respect for the sacred space.
  2. Remove your shoes: Shoes must be removed before entering any temple building. You may leave them on the racks provided at the entrance.
  3. Ask permission before taking photos: Photography is generally allowed on the temple grounds, but please ask permission before photographing monks, ceremonies, or the interior of the main chapel (Ubosot).
  4. Be respectful: Speak quietly, silence your phone, and follow any instructions given by monks or temple staff. When sitting in the temple, avoid pointing your feet toward the Buddha image or monks.

Wat Thai of Los Angeles is located at 8225 Coldwater Canyon Ave, North Hollywood, CA 91605. Free parking is available on the temple grounds.
